Hint if you’re adding a new domain controller. If you ever find yourself in the situation where you are adding a new domain controller and your are missing the NETLOGON and SYSVOL shares, double check your DFS logs. One of my servers had DFS disabled. This meant that the new server could not replicate the originals data properly. Much searching failed to prove useful, as there are many reasons that those shares may be missing. I would recommend checking your DFS Replication Log under the Event Viewer’s “Applications and Services Logs” section.
